Looking for a fun game to play with the family over the Christmas holidays? We've picked out a few of our festive favourites that are sure to bring plenty of laughs (and maybe a little friendly competition!) to your next game night.
We've got Christmas editions of some classic family games, along with a few wonderfully silly card games that we think you'll love. They're great for holiday gatherings, Christmas gifts, or keeping everyone entertained over the school break.
Here are five Christmas games we're loving at The Rocking Horse this year!
Spot It!: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer & The Grinch Editions
If you've played Spot It! before, you know how quickly things can get competitive. Players race to find the matching symbol between two cards, and there's always someone who spots it just a split second before everyone else.
One of our favourite things about Spot It! is that it's just as much fun for adults as it is for kids. And don't be surprised when the kids beat the grown-ups! They're often surprisingly quick at spotting those matching symbols.
This Christmas, we're loving two special editions: Spot It! Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Spot It! The Grinch. Both bring familiar holiday characters to the fast-paced game we already love.
They're compact, easy to bring along to holiday gatherings, and great for a quick game with the whole family.
Piles! Christmas Edition
If your family loves a little chaos with their card games, Piles! Christmas Edition might be right up your alley.
This fast-paced matching game has everyone playing at once, racing to collect matching sets of cards. There's no waiting around for your turn, which makes things wonderfully hectic once everyone gets going.
The Christmas edition adds a festive spin to the fun, making it a great choice for family game nights and holiday get-togethers.
CandyLand: The Grinch Edition
A Christmas twist on a childhood classic!
CandyLand has been a favourite with younger children for generations, and this Grinch-themed edition brings a little Whoville magic to the game.
With familiar characters and colourful illustrations inspired by How the Grinch Stole Christmas, it's a lovely way to introduce younger kids to board games while getting everyone into the holiday spirit.
We especially love this one for families with little ones who are just beginning to enjoy playing games together.
Holly Jolly The Absurd Word Card Game
Get ready for some ridiculous answers and plenty of laughter!
Holly Jolly is a festive word game that brings a wonderfully silly element to Christmas game night. It's the sort of game where the fun comes from seeing what everyone comes up with, and things can get pretty funny pretty quickly.
A great pick for holiday parties, family gatherings, or anyone who enjoys a game that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Santa Cookie Elf Candy Snowman
Try saying that five times fast!
Santa Cookie Elf Candy Snowman is a quick, silly card game that's all about paying attention and keeping up. Players take turns saying the words in the game's name while flipping cards, racing to react when the words and pictures match.
It sounds simple enough, but once the game gets moving, it's surprisingly easy to get mixed up!
This is a fun one to bring out when everyone is gathered around the table and ready for a few laughs.
Make Time for a Little Christmas Game Night!
One of our favourite things about board games is how easily they bring everyone together. You don't need a big plan or a special occasion. Just clear a little space at the table, pick a game, and see who gets competitive first!
You can shop all of these festive board games and card games online or visit us at The Rocking Horse in downtown Kingston. And if you're not sure which game to choose, we're always happy to help you find one your family will love!
