Some of the most meaningful ideas begin quietly at home. For the Venus family, it all started with a commitment to caring for their neighbourhood. During family walks, they collected bottles and cans and returned them for recycling. Soon enough, that simple action sparked a much bigger idea. What if the money earned could help bring joy to children who might otherwise go without gifts during the holidays?

That spark grew into the Venus Family Toy Box. Each year, the family sets a fundraising goal for toys that are donated to local children in need. Link and Bradley help every step of the way. They sort bottle returns, track their progress, and pick out toys they know other kids would be thrilled to open on Christmas morning.

As their enthusiasm grew, so did their creativity. They designed bracelets to sell, set up lemonade and freezie stands at community events. They shared their mission with friends, classmates, and neighbours. The community quickly rallied behind them, turning a family project into a cherished local tradition.

Today, the Venus Family Toy Box continues to grow because of generosity, teamwork, and a shared belief that every child deserves to feel excited on Christmas morning. The impact is real. More toys are donated each year and more families join in to support their mission. It is a beautiful reminder that meaningful change can begin with one family choosing to help others.

This season, you are invited to celebrate the amazing work of the Venus family at their Night of Giving. Join us on Friday, December 5 from 4 to 7. The boys will be doing their annual shop and we will also be collecting new toy donations for families in our community.
