In Leonardo Da Vinci's time, nautical expedition was the most expedient method of communicating with the world. Da Vinci brought forth plans for a boat with large wheel-shaped paddles that would propel it through water. The boat was relatively fast and easy to navigate using foot pedals to turn rotating paddles that would move the boat.
